I ordered two of these and got them in this week. I got the time to assemble one of them last night. As I recently built up two other book cases of similar design, I had the tools and recent memories together to make short/quick work of this assembly job.Received condition: Overall, all the pieces were in very good condition. Packaging was solid and the cardboard strength was good enough to keep most external protrusions to a minimum. The only damage was a slight dent into the beveled edge of one of the front doors. But it didn't mar the paint so no touch-up was necessary. Assembly proceeded.Assembly: The assembly was straight-forward.
With the help of a little Black & Decker Lithium powered screwdriver, I was able to make short work of the process. Make sure not to use a high-torque device or you will end up stripping out the. I have put together my fair share of bookcases and cabinets. For the most part you get what you pay for. I needed 2 cabinets for pantry type use in my dining room.

In the photos these matched the style and colors already in use. The price was comparatively reasonable. You cant expect hardwood hand crafted pre assembled products at this price point but there is an expectation of quality.
I was skeptical so I order 1 to do a trial run.Package came from a 3rd party supplier quickly. It was big and heavy but I managed. Here is where I was pleasantly surprised, It was like Sauder had designed the cabinet with you in mind. Putting it together on the floor. 95% of it was very straightforward and easy. The last 5% was a pain. The hanging of the doors.
The screws that go through the hinges and into the. The upright center panel was broken and unusable, the remaining parts were fine. I contacted Sauder, per the manual, and they quickly replaced the part. As other mentioned, the construction took two people and required very close attention to the instructions, specifically, the direction the finished/unfinished surfaces faced.
Once constructed, the item seems much more sturdy than the individual pieces were. I learned my floor was uneven so I had to add shims under a portion of the base to level the cabinet so the doors squared up and matched. It works for the purchases I ordered it (holding my sewing supplies). I was very happy to find this product through Amazon for $150 less than another online site I almost bought it from. For the price and ease of delivery of an oversized item, I think it was a very good buy.
I was worried when this was delivered, as the box looked like it had been through a tornado, but the parts inside were well packaged and totally pristine when I opened it up! Unlike many flat-packed furniture kits I've experienced, this came with exactly all the parts needed to put it together, and the wooden parts were cut and drilled quite precisely, so there wasn't a need to force it together, all the parts fit just right. You do need a standard size screwdriver to put it together, but nothing exotic.Put together, it is an attractive piece of furniture, felt quite sturdy overall, and perfect for kitchen storage. I also like that the kit came with magnet closures for the doors, so they snap shut nicely and stay closed. Now for the drawbacks: The buffet had a strong and unpleasant paint/chemical smell when it was first opened. This is a decent design and functions well enough (the MDF ironing 'board' is a bit floppy and we may add a bit more padding under the cover). Given few decent alternatives it may be the best at this price point. That said, the craftsmanship and some of the materials choices seem more like 7th grade shop class than a professionally manufactured item. Too many shortcuts, where a few cents spent on better materials and attentive assembly could have made a better product for little or no additional cost:- The interior box is plywood with a paper thin face veneer.
This means it tended to lift up one of the shelves and it is much too thin to take a clear finish or stain without a blotchy appearance. A better ply should be used.- The oak door is reasonably nice, but ours came with a large defect.
